Universiy of Tübingen has 27.196 students of whom 3.779 are international students and more than 7.000 academic and non-academic staff. University of Tübingen has a track-record in research: In 2018, it had 7 collaborative research centers, 5 transregional collaborative research centers, 8 DFG-backed research training groups, 55 Habilitations completed and 754 doctorates completed. Within his Excellence Strategy, it has a Cluster of Excellence in Machine Learning, in Infection Research and in Cancer Research.
TU is very experienced with peer-to-peer interaction in different formats, buddy systems, tutoring, peer to peer learning. The expertise is in the faculties with regards to the specific requirements of the academic subjects, but also in the central administrative units, international office, academic teaching, liberal education program, to name only the most important ones. In the course of the COVID 19 crisis, the university has significantly increased its efforts for student support services in digital environments, both on the level of counselling and guidance and on the level of concrete advice with the use of tools.
Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza
With over 700 years of history, over 113,000 students, 3,300 teachers and 2,000 employees, technicians and librarians, in addition to 1,800 administrative staff in university hospitals, Sapienza is the first university in Europe. Our mission is to contribute to the development of a knowledge society through research, excellence, quality education and international cooperation.
The world’s leading university rankings place Sapienza at the top of Italian universities for quality of research, education and international dimension; moreover, Sapienza excels and leads as a benchmark in many subject areas. Sapienza currently offers over 280-degree programmes (Bachelor’s and Master’s) – among which over 35 are taught in English- 200 vocational master courses and almost 80 PhDs. The School of Advanced Studies provides a programme of excellence and free tuition for the best students. Students with an Italian high school score of 100 are exempted from enrolment fees and the bonus is extended if they keep up their good grades. Families who have more than one child enrolled at the university also enjoy a special brothers-sisters bonus. University services include 54 libraries (four with 24-hour reading rooms), 18 museums, the Ciao and Hello Orientation Offices, a Sort – Orientation and Tutoring Office in each faculty, a Disabled Students Office, the Job Soul Placement Office, and a Public Relations Office. Stockholm University (SU)
Stockholm University was founded in 1878 and has always been characterized by openness and innovation.
As a modern university with a multicultural environment, Stockholm University is one of the 200 highest-ranked universities in the world and one of the top 50 universities in Europe. It is the home to the country’s most substantial research within science and human science, as well as the home of a number of internationally prominent research environments.
Stockholm University is located in one of Europe’s most dynamic capital cities. The University has 27,000 fulltime students, 1400 doctoral students and 5,600 staff. Stockholm University offers around 200 study programs (on bachelor and masters level), which 75 are Master-programs taught in English. Moreover, around 1,700 free-standing courses are offered.
The University contributes to individual and social change through top quality education and outstanding research. The researchers contribute to the development of public policy and political decision making, and participate in Nobel Prize Committees and international expert bodies. Throughout the University’s history, four researchers has been awarded the Nobel prize in Chemistry and one has received the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
Internationalization is a priority and an obvious means to achieve higher quality in education and research at Stockholm University. International cooperation at Stockholm University is based on a decentralized responsibility with the main principle that departments independently develop their contacts and collaborations that are relevant and match the department’s research and education.
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA)
NKUA is a public university located in Athens, Greece. Inaugurated in 1837, it has been the first university in the newly established Modern Greek state, as well as in the Balkan and the Eastern Mediterranean area.
Its role has been historically and socially decisive for education and promotion of cultural life in the country and beyond. For the academic year 2022-23, the NKUA offers 41 undergraduate programs as well as 224 postgraduate programs leading to a Master’s or a Doctoral degree. The NKUA has 5 University Research Institutes, 15 Centers of Excellence, 3 University Hospitals, 70 Clinics and Departments under the auspices of the School of Health Sciences, 243 University Laboratories, 11 libraries, the History Museum of the University, the Historical Archive and 13 thematic museums. Furthermore, at the Modern Greek Language Teaching Centre, Greek language is taught as a second/foreign language; and at the Foreign Languages Teaching Centre 24 languages can be studied and special programs are available in language, translation, science of law or medicine. Finally, the University offers a Students’ Union, sports centres, special artistic groups, etc. as well as a number of counselling and support services to students and the public.

Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM)
UAM is a public university with an outstanding international reputation for its high-quality teaching and research. Founded in 1968, it has been generally recognized as one of the best Spanish universities in both national and international rankings.
UAM has the following Faculties/Schools: Science, Economics and Business Studies, Law, Art and Philosophy, Medicine, Psychology, Teachers´ Training and Education, an Engineering School for Computer Science and several affiliated centers, offering a wide range of studies in humanities and scientific and technical fields.
UAM has a distinguished reputation in research: in 2009 it was awarded the recognition of “Campus of International Excellence UAM+CSIC”, a joint project with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). The support and development of high quality research have been among its objectives, and it has been rewarded with international recognition. These achievements have been attained thanks to its highly-valued research teams and research institutes.
The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) boasts a large experience in the management of international mobility, educational and research programs in the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme, the VII Framework Programme for Research, and EuropeAid. Currently UAM is coordinator and partner in Erasmus+ projects in Key Action 1, Key Action 2 (Capacity Building and Strategic Partnerships) and Key Action 3.
Aix-Marseille Université (AMU)
AMU is the largest multidisciplinary French-speaking university and it welcomes 80,000 students and nearly 8,000 staff on 5 large campuses of international standards.
Owning 90% of its assets, the university is present in 9 cities in 4 departments of the Southern Region of France.
Responsible University, Aix-Marseille Université makes “living well together” a priority. The affirmation of its commitment to sustainable development in all its dimensions – human, environmental and heritage – is embodied in numerous actions and measures: a travel plan, a waste management plan, raising student awareness of the climate emergency and the introduction of a sustainable development bonus, the creation of the AMU Climate Council, as well as measures to combat sexual, sexist and homophobic harassment, the application of a master plan on disability, measures to combat racism and anti-Semitism, and numerous sports and festive events on campus.
Widely open to the world with 10,000 international students and more than 40 diplomas in international partnerships, AMU is a university with an international vocation. Each academic year, thousands of international students come to participate in the University’s 367 exchange cooperation partnerships. AMU has been an active participant in the Erasmus+ programme since its launch, both in terms of mobility and cooperation actions.
Universitatea din Bucuresti (UB)
The University of Bucharest is one the leading higher education institutions in Romania and South-East Europe by actively contributing through research and teaching to the development and use of knowledge.
The University’s main objective is to offer high-quality academic programs and research facilities and becoming a forefront of research and teaching. UB is strongly committed to international research initiatives. UB is part of a reliable network of international collaboration – 300 of bilateral collaboration agreements have been signed with universities in 52 countries. Since October 2018, UB is part of CIVIS – European Civic University Alliance (www.civis.eu). UB offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in social sciences and humanities, and natural sciences (93 bachelor programs, 208 master programs and 21 doctoral programs). The University consists of nineteen Faculties, each specialised in an academic field. This structure gives the students and academic staff a strong sense of community. Within the University, there are over 50 research institutes, departments and centres, most of them collaborating with similar scientific centres abroad. The main goal of the University of Bucharest is to obtain the highest quality of educational services and of research activity possible, by adopting international-grade competitive standards and by manifesting a continuous interest in the assurance of quality, interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership, as well as in the excellence of the activities of the professors and of the employees. The University of Bucharest models its educational process based on the needs of the society of knowledge, in which the formation of competences and abilities plays an essential role. The University of Bucharest promotes an ethical climate of trust and communication on all levels, anticipates changes and elaborates on pro-active plans.
In relation to this project, UB took the lead of this partnership and contributes with the expertise of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences on teacher education and innovative pedagogies. Issues such as types, practices and key factors in innovating higher education, analyzing the capacity of higher education to rapidly pass from more conservative and traditional models to innovative practices and formats are on the research agenda of the team involved in this project.
